Slade were formed in 1966. But it was their rise to prominence in the emerging glam rock period that gave the quartet its decisive push. Over a period of six peak years, Slade delivered a stunning run of more than 15 Top 20 singles, several of which reached No. 1. Their peak was short-lived, but Slade left a lasting legacy that is felt to this day. Even big bands covered their single hits.
