Thin Lizzy are among the icons of British rock. Over the years they have influenced countless other bands, yet probably no other band has ever sounded like them.

in 1969, school friends Phil Lynott and Brian Downey, along with Eric Bell and Eric Wrixon, formed the hard rock band in Dublin. After a few first gigs, Thin Lizzy, who initially had a rather eclectic sound with influences from Irish folk, blues, R’n’B, pop, rock and hard rock, got a contract with Decca just one year later. The musicians moved to London and from then on their great career began

They first gained attention with their version of the Irish folk song „Whiskey In The Jar,” which they actually recorded rather casually in 1972. The song landed at number one in the charts in Ireland, number six in the UK and number seven in Germany. Until their breakup in 1983, twelve studio albums and several more hits were to follow.

And it is exactly these that the „Greatest Hits” album by Thin Lizzy is dedicated to. The compilation was originally released in 2004 on double CD and is now also available on vinyl.

In contrast to the CD version, however, 22 instead of 36 songs are waiting on the double LP, which were compiled together with Thin Lizzy expert Nick Sharp. Nevertheless, every essential song recorded by the rock legends in the years 1972 to 1983 is included here. These include „The Boys Are Back in Town,” „Whisky In The Jar,” „Waiting For An Alibi,” „Dancing In The Moonlight,” „Jailbreak,” „Don’t Believe A Word” and many more.
