On her debut album for Verve, Diana Krall’s jazz band is carried by beautiful orchestrations arranged by Johnny Mandel. When I Look In Your Eyes was recorded by the legendary Al Schmitt and features some of Diana’s best-known performances, including „Let’s Face The Music and Dance” and „I’ve Got You Under my Skin.”
If art is about progression, Diana Krall is among the most accomplished artists in jazz. When I Look In Your Eyes is another step forward for the singer/pianist. This great release breaks from the standard piano trio instrumentation of her previous two releases; several tracks on the album are accompanied by the elegant orchestrations of maestro Johnny Mandel.
When I Look In Your Eyes was produced by Tommy LiPuma and features Krall on piano and vocals with longtime trio mate Russell Malone on guitar. Ben Wolfe and John Clayton share duties on bass and Jeff Hamilton and Lewis Nash take turns on drums.
