The conclusion of the „Oxygene” trilogy

His fans have been waiting for this for a long time: With „Oxygene 3,” French electronic pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre concludes his famous „Oxygene” trilogy.

Almost 40 years have passed since his first successful album „Oxygene (1-6)” from 1976, another 20 years since part two: „Oxygene (7-13)” from 1997.

Jarre composed seven brand new tracks for „Oxygene 3„, which he titled Parts 14 to 20. For this, the 68-year-old went back to his beginnings, to dark-atmospheric sounds, to the space sound and also to minimalism.

Jarre recorded his debut with only a few instruments and an 8-track tape recorder. There were only a few beats and drums. He keeps this approach on „Oxygene 3„, even if he of course had significantly more technical possibilities at his disposal.

The result is a good 40-minute complete work, which works like its two predecessors as a whole, that is, can be listened to from beginning to end and experienced without a break.
