Three years after the release of her successful album Essentials II, jazz diva Karen Souza returns with her 4th studio album. Velvet Vault is the title of a collection that combines jazz standards with jazz reworkings of pop classics as well as two songs co-written by Karen herself. Japan’s superstar Toku delivers a duet with Karen on the track You Got That Something. Also contributing to the album were Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse guitarist) and the legendary Tom ‘Bones’ Malone (Blues Brothers, Saturday Night Live Band). The vocals were recorded in New York at The Orchard Studios, produced by Richard Gottehrer (of Blondie, Richard Hell and Dr. Feelgood fame). Velvet Vault is without a doubt Karen Souza’s most perfect record and will definitely continue her success story.
