This album is dedicated to Michael’s children, Prince, Paris and Blanket, and his mother, Katherine Jackson.

With „Xscape„, Epic Records, in collaboration with the Michael Jackson Estate, is releasing an actual new Michael Jackson album – almost five years after the death of the King of Pop.

L.A. Reid, as head of Epic Records, was given unrestricted access to the Michael Jackson archives, which also included all the vocal recordings of the last 40 years. Reid then became the curator of a final list of recordings selected for this album.

These recordings were given to producers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome „Jroc” Harmon and John McClain. The brief was to rework the songs towards a fresh, contemporary sound, while at all costs preserving the artistic integrity of Michael Jackson. The music of Michael Jackson should be transferred into today’s time – just as Michael himself would have done if he had released the songs today.
