First Time on Vinyl Since 1981!

Mastered at Abbey Road Studios by Miles Showell on a modified Neumann VMS-80 lathe, using the original master tape played at half speed, and the cutting lathe turned at precisely half the playback speed.

„Nick Mason’s Fictitious Sports” is Nick’s first solo album and his first work outside of Pink Floyd. Originally released in 1981, he collaborated with a variety of different musicians, including Robert Wyatt and Carla Bley.

The album was recorded in 1979 at a session booked in America where Nick, Carla and Robert wanted to get their ideas together. Before the trip, however, Carla sent Nick a demo tape…

„It was very different from what she’d done before and absolutely in line with what I like,” Nick commented in 2012… and it became the nucleus of the album.
