“Travesía” is a special album full of inspired music by the great composer, producer and artist Ryuichi Sakamoto. It was curated by his close friend, Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, with whom Sakamoto collaborated on the award-winning film “The Revenant” (starring Leonardo di Caprio).

Iñárritu selected 20 tracks for “Travesía,” the Spanish word for “journey,” over a labor of nearly six months, spanning nearly four decades of Sakamoto’s work and incredible career. One focus is Sakamoto’s solo work, beginning with “Thousand Knives,” the title track from Sakamoto’s debut album. Iñárritu also deliberately chose lesser-known tracks. There is also a real novelty on the album, a brand new remix of “Revenant Main Theme,” the theme song to the film “The Revenant,” which Sakamoto’s longtime colleague Alva Noto produced.
