“The Cage” sounds less calm and acoustic than its predecessor, but more rocking and direct. Guitarist Steve Stevens explains it this way, “Back in the day we wanted to be more personal and intimate, this record is big and heavy – the other side of the coin, so to speak.” Stevens will know, after all, he has been by Billy Idol’s side as guitarist and co-writer since his first solo walking attempts.

This time Billy Idol has put the frustration and uncertainty of the pandemic to music. When he sings in the title track: “Screamin’ In Isolation […] I’ve been punchin’ through the walls”, many listeners who have spent a lot of time in their own four walls in the last two years can certainly relate.

So it’s perfect that Billy Idol can finally go on tour again just in time for the release of “The Cage“.
