Although it contains the two classics „Sugar Hiccup” and „Musette And Dreams”, nevertheless the second album „Head Over Heels„, originally released in 1983, is probably the most difficult work of the Cocteau Twins to access.
But whoever gets involved with a little patience in the fascinating sounds will be richly rewarded, each song is a small, melancholic-dreamy work of art in itself, which wants to be discovered. „Head Over Heels” was created as a pure duo effort by Elizabeth Fraser (vocals) and Robin Guthrie (guitar, bass, drums), as the third founding member, bassist Will Heggie, had joined the alternative band Lowlife shortly before the album was recorded.
After a tour through Great Britain with OMD at the turn of the year 1982 / 83 and collaborations with, among others, This Mortal Coil, the breeding ground for a successful album release was laid – „Head Over Heels” formed the starting signal for a decade whose sound the Cocteau Twins decisively shaped.
