Nine years David Gilmour let wait for his solo album “Rattle That Lock“. But there was a really good reason for that: the singer was busy recording “The Endless River“, the album by his band Pink Floyd released in 2014.

He therefore borrowed some of the guest musicians directly for his own record. His former bandmate Nick Mason, bassist Guy Pratt and longtime friend and co-producer Phil Manzanera supported him on the recording of “Rattle That Lock.” And rock legends Jools Holland, David Crosby and Graham Nash also contributed to Gilmour’s solo album, which was recorded in a Brighton studio and on his houseboat.

The song lyrics on “Rattle That Lock” are mostly by Gilmour’s wife and longtime songwriting partner Polly Samson, who drew inspiration for her work from the poem “Paradise Lost” by English poet John Milton, among others.
