On October 5, 1970, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant released their album “Led Zeppelin III” in the US, followed a few weeks later by the UK and other countries. The band’s third album in less than two years reached #1 on the charts in numerous countries, including the US and UK (#3 in Germany), and sold a total of 13 million copies worldwide. In addition to its overwhelming commercial success, the album also marked a turning point musically for Led Zeppelin, who expanded their hard-hitting sound to include a wider range of styles, heard on acoustic-based songs such as “That’s The Way,” “Tangerine,” and “Bron-Y-Aur-Stomp.”
