“Stormbringer“, the ninth studio album by Deep Purple, was released in 1974.

It was the second album for David Coverdale as the band’s lead singer, but it was to be the last Deep Purple album with Ritchie Blackmore in the band lineup for several years.

The band’s songs became funkier than ever and the album reached #20 in the US and #6 in the UK, but it did not result in any significant hit singles for the band.

In 2006, however, it was named one of the 100 Greatest British Rock Albums Ever, so it’s clear that Deep Purple definitely brought both the storm and the rock.
