Equinoxe Infinity marks the 40th anniversary of the original and is a brand new Equinoxe album. in 1978, Jean-Michel Jarre composed and produced an album that would reflect the music of our future, revolutionizing electronic music history. As a supporting element, Equinoxe was about the „Watchers”, who could be seen in infinite numbers on the original album cover. Who are these Watchers? Are they watching us? Are they friend or foe? In 1987, in an emerging time of technology and innovation, these Watchers were a symbol of machines watching us, an early vision of what the future would bring us.
On Equinoxe Infinity Jean-Michel Jarre continues this idea. The new work appears with two covers. One version embodies a future in which man lives in harmony with nature. The other version shows the destruction that machines and humans could bring upon the planet. For Jarre, known as an innovator and pioneer, the topic of Artificial Intelligence and Man vs Machine is the most important and explosive issue for humanity in the future. For his thoughts, Jarre was awarded the Stehen Hawkins Medal of for Science in 2017. Equinoxe Infinity is the soundtrack for this two-sided vision of the future.
