Always something new from Jethro Tull mastermind Ian Anderson. With „The String Quartets„, the progressive rock pioneer, multi-instrumentalist and singer presents a new album together with the British-Irish Carducci String Quartet in 2017.

The ensemble consists of Matthew Denton and Michelle Fleming (violin), Eoin Schmidt-Martin (viola) and Emma Denton (cello). Together with Anderson, who plays flute on the album and takes over some vocal parts here and there, they have given twelve Jethro Tull titles a new, neo-classical garb for „The String Quartets„.

Included are classics like „Locomotive Breath,” „Bungle In The Jungle,” „Living In The Past” and „Aqualung.” However, all the tracks were given new or modified names to better distinguish them from the originals.

The new album was recorded in the crypt of Worcester Cathedral, UK, and in St. Kenelm’s Church in Sapperton, Gloucestershire, UK.
Jethro Tull keyboardist John O’Hara was responsible for the arrangement and orchestration of the songs on „The String Quartets„.
