Only two years after Leonard Cohen’s last number one album „Popular Problems„, „You Want It Darker„, a new work of the Canadian singer-songwriter already followed in October 2016. It also reached the top of the charts several times.

Just a few days later came the shattering news: the Canadian singer-songwriter passed away on November 7. He was 82 years old. „You Want It Darker” is the legend’s last album.

The name says it all, because Cohen continues the melancholic, gloomy mood and the deep sounds of his previous albums. With the minimalist and hypnotizing title track „You Want It Darker” there had already been a first taste in September. Here, the singer’s sparse spoken word vocals are complemented by gospel chants from Montreal’s Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue Choir.

The singer recorded a total of nine new songs for „You Want It Darker„. Cohen’s son Adam was responsible for the production.
