The first 5 in one box

25 years have passed since guitar virtuoso and Dire Straits co-founder Mark Knopfler released his first solo album „Golden Heart”. The musician takes this anniversary in 2021 as an occasion for a special career retrospective: „The Studio Albums 1996 – 2007„.

The name gives it away: the limited box set collects his first five studio albums

All albums were remastered for the release by Miles Showell at the famous Abbey Road Studios in London. As a special highlight, the „The Studio Albums 1996 – 2007” box set includes an exclusive bonus CD with studio B-sides from this period: „Gravy Train: The B-Sides 1996 – 2007„. The complete track listing of the collection can be found below.

The 6-CD set comes in a luxurious clamshell box containing the CDs in wallets with folded, double-sided printed inserts. As a little extra, six art cards await, one of each of the album covers.

Mark Knopfler became known as the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of the rock band Dire Straits, which he formed in London in 1977 with his brother David Knopfler (rhythm guitar and background vocals), John Illsley (bass guitar and background vocals) and Pick Withers (drums and percussion). They were active from 1977 to 1988 and again from 1991 to 1995. After Knopfler left the band in 1987, he launched his solo career, which has produced nine studio albums to date. All of them reached the top 10 of the international charts several times. The first five are now available in the „The Studio Albums 1996 – 2007” box set.
