After the rock opera “Jesus Christ the Exorcist“, Neal Morse has his latest prog epic entitled “The Dreamer – Joseph: Part One“. The album tells the classic story of Joseph (the one with the colorful coat!) using the tools of progressive rock as only Neal can!
The story unfolds as Morse uses amazing vocalists like Ted Leonard (Spock’s Beard, Pattern Seeking Animals), Matt Smith (Theocracy) and Jake Livgren (Proto-kaw, Kansas) to sing the parts of Joseph’s brothers who are plagued by jealousy and throw him into the pit. Neal not only cast the characters in the story, but also chose the best musicians for the musical “roles.” So you can hear the stirring guitar playing of Steve Morse (Deep Purple, Dixie Dregs) and Eric Gillette (NMB), among others, while this familiar story is brought to life by amazing music that will delight all fans of progressive rock.
The album offers everything from long epics and odd time signatures to very melodic and song-oriented pieces. “The Dreamer – Joseph: Part One” contains all the elements you would hope for in a new progressive rock album from Neal Morse, and more! And that’s just Part One, which ends with Joseph in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. “Part 2” follows in the year 2024!
