Stevie Ray Vaughan’s third studio album “Soul To Soul” was released in 1985, just two years after his successful debut “Texas Flood“. Moving toward a more soulful, R&B-heavy blues sound, Vaughan recruited two new band members on keyboards and saxophone.
The band knew their way around cover versions of songs by Hank Ballard, Doyle Bramhall and Willie Dixon, which was to the benefit of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s modern blues sound. His original compositions like “Say What”, “Ain’t Gone ‘N’ Give Up On Love” and “Life Without You” show an artist who passionately indulges in the true blues, but at the same time evolves in terms of songwriting.
