On their fifth studio album (and their fifth consecutive U.S. Gold Award), Morrison Hotel, The Doors returned to their origins and were reborn as a rock ‘n’ roll band. Completed within weeks and released in February 1970, the hard-edged album drew its title from the rundown downtown Los Angeles hotel that also features in Henry Diltz’s iconic cover photo.
