Re-release of Uriah Heep’s 13th studio album as a 180g heavy vinyl edition.
The album “Conquest“, released in 1980, was made in a period when Ken Hensley was slowly alienating himself from the band, which led to his departure shortly after. They hired the singer of the Lone Stars named John Sloman as vocalist – a short guest appearance!
It was to remain the only Uriah Heep album with his vocal participation. Ken Hensley, in particular, did not like the choice and considered his engagement a musical leap from “Black Sabbath to Gino Vannelli”.
The album received excellent reviews at release and entered the British Top 40, a success that was not granted to its predecessors.
The cover photograph, taken by Martin Poole, is based on the famous image of the raising of the second flag at Iwo Jima.
