With „Die Kleinen Und Die Bösen„, the second album of the German-American friendship aka DAF, in the original released in June 1980 on Mute Records, the band celebrated their international breakthrough.
DAF consisted at the time of four musicians: Chrislo Haas (synths, tape, saxophon), later member of Liaisons Dangereuses and Crime & The City Solution, Wolfgang Spelmanns (guitar, synths), Robert Görl (drums, vocals) and Gabi Delgado (lead vocals).
The album’s first 8 tracks were produced by Conny Plank at his legendary studio at Cologne, the further 11 tracks were all recorded live at London’s Electric Ballroom and later remixed by Conny Plank. „The Little and the Evils” includes the classics „East Weighing Longest”, „Co Co Pino” and „Night Work”, while the live recordings were all pure, style-forming electro-punk.
The cover artwork designed by Robert Görl, Frank Fenstermacher (The Plan) and Simone Grant, the typography of the inner pocket comes from Christina Schnekenburger.
