For a long time it was quiet around the German-Romanian music producer and composer Michael Cretu, who is probably better known as Enigma. in 2016, eight years after his last album, the electro and new age project finally returns with a new album: „The Fall Of A Rebel Angel„.

This is a concept album. „The Fall Of A Rebel Angel” tells the story of a nameless protagonist who, representing humanity, embarks on a journey: the path to a better, more fulfilling life.

This journey comprises a total of twelve chapters in the form of twelve tracks. They are based on a poem by German lyricist, writer and librettist Michael Kunze, which is included with the album. All tracks on „The Fall Of A Rebel Angel” are complemented by 13 paintings by German painter and former art forger Wolfgang Beltracchi.

Musically, the journey goes – how could it be otherwise – in the direction of electronica, new age, synthpop and downtempo. Cretu is supported by the artists Nanuk, Mark Josher, Anggun and Aquilo.
