„The Wall” was originally released in November 1979 and topped the charts in the USA, France, Germany, Sweden and Australia. „Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2,” Pink Floyd’s first singles release in the U.K. since 1968, advanced to a number one hit and sold millions worldwide within weeks.

Between 1980 and 1981, Pink Floyd staged The Wall album live 31 times on stages in the US, UK and Germany. It was one of the most spectacular stage shows ever, for which a wall over twelve meters high was built stone by stone at the edge of the stage during the performance. In 2010 and 2011 Roger Waters went on tour again with The Wall with a new and critically acclaimed stage production.

A special feature of the recording sessions was the addition of students from London’s Islington Green School, who recorded the now famous chorus („We don’t need no education…”) to „Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2” at Pink Floyd’s own Britannia Row studio in London.
