In June 2016, Blackmore gave three concerts in Europe: two in Germany and one in England, his first rock concerts in almost 20 years. The two German performances, at the Loreley and in Bietigheim, make up the “Memories in Rock” set. Songs include “Highway Star” and “Smoke on the Water” by Deep Purple, and “Since You Been Gone” and “Man on the Silver Mountain” by Rainbow.

The band that performed at these concerts included none of the big names Blackmore has played with over the years. Instead, vocalist Ronnie Romero, bassist Bob Nouveau, drummer David Keith and keyboardist Jens Johanssen, as well as two female backup singers, were in the mix.
